Change to Entry Fee Billing Policy for all TSUK Competitions
Article Date: Monday 23rd April 2012

From Monday 23rd April, entry fees for all TSUK competitions will now be billed to players' accounts on an event CANCELLATION (withdrawal) deadline. This change will avoid cancellation charges for tournaments which offer an extended cancellation period.

Unlike many tournaments who charge an entry fee at the time of application, we have never done this as it unfairly penalises players and parents who wish to make an early application. Until now, a player's account has only been billed when a player has been accepted to play in a competition.

Many tournaments (particularly grade 2 and grade 3 events) have an application deadline 3-4 weeks before the start of the competition but then allow accepted players to cancel their entry within a stipulated period (i.e. up to the "cancellation deadline"). In such cases the entry fee is refunded by the tournament, although a 10% cancellation fee has been made by TSUK to cover the cost of processing both the original credit/debit card transactions and the refund.

With immediate effect, we will now only charge an entry fee to players who have been accepted for a competition, if they DO NOT exercise their option to cancel before the cancellation (withdrawal) deadline. No cancellation fees will therefore apply as entry fees will not be charged until the cancellation deadline has passed.

We believe that this will be beneficial to parents & players and also help us to keep administration costs down.

Do remember that fees are non-refundable if a withdrawal is made AFTER an event cancellation deadline in which case LTA withdrawal points are automatically imposed - the accumulation of which can lead to a suspension being imposed by the LTA.

Some competitions (particularly matchplay events, postal competitions, SuperSeries tournaments and most grade 4, 5 and 6 tournaments) have a simultaneous application and cancellation deadline. All players and parents are asked to note these carefully to avoid forfeiting entry fees and incurring LTA withdrawal points.
