Over the past few months there has been some confusion over whether players are allowed to wear Adidas clothing containing the "three stripes" trademark which, until now, has fallen outside the LTA clothing and equipment regulations.
The LTA Officiating department have announced today that the "three stripes" WILL now be allowed and players may wear such clothing at LTA tournaments, until further notice. Such clothing is however prohibited at professional events.
LTA clothing regulations are not always strictly enforced at some tournaments, although as a general rule, the higher the grade of the tournament, the more likely the referee and tournament officials will be checking clothing. Clothing containing commerical advertising is not normally allowed and there are restrictions on the size of manufacturers logos. You can download a copy of the latest regulations by clicking here.
LTA clothing rules are not enforced at matchplays.com events and although players are encouraged to wear recognised tennis clothing, most sportswear will be permitted at events (within reason) and there are no restrictions on logo sizes or clothing containing advertising material. Shoes should always be non-marking, to avoid damage to the courts.
Any questions regarding tennis the acceptability of tennis attire should be addressed to the event referee or tournament officials. |
