Sutton Tennis Academy (STA) is the
country’s first indoor junior tennis centre. An international training centre
located in South West London, 4 miles from Wimbledon. STA was
established in 1990 and is the UK’s leading performance tennis
facility. As London’s
premier facility, the academy offers a flexible approach to meet the training
and practice requirements for players of all ages and levels; professional,
full–time, junior performance players as well as beginners.
The centre offers a wealth of facilities
including 9 indoor acrylic, 8 clay, 2 outdoor acrylic and 3 artificial
grass courts, sports physio and psychology clinic, strength and
conditioning gym as well as a luxury health and fitness suite, relaxing sports
lounge, indoor and outdoor viewing areas plus function/conference facilities.
STA is an accredited LTA performance
academy, home to world-ranked players and offers one of the most comprehensive
tennis facilities and player support services in Europe. Players
are supported by a team of highly qualified coaches and fitness trainers with
access to STA’s on-site sports science, sport psychology and physiotherapy
clinic.
In 1993 established The Sutton
Scholarship Programme was established, in partnership with Cheam High School and is the longest-running
Tennis and E`ducation programme in the country. The programme allows players
access to top-class intensive tennis training, whilst continuing their
education. For students outside the area or country, STA can also provide
accommodation during the programme. A
private academic program can be provided here at the STA with an on-site
classroom and private tutors. Players
can therefore choose the academic route that suits their needs.
All STA tennis programmes provide
tennis players with excellent opportunities to progress their tennis in
different directions and can be tailored specifically to individuals needs; a
professional tennis career, training with the Pro Academy,
gaining a scholarship to university or coaching.
The STA Christmas Tournament is a
long-established competition taking place on indoor courts at Sutton Tennis
Academy. The tournament
features grade 4 events for junior players (12, 14, 16 and 18&U) and
grade 3 men's and ladies open events intended for older junior players and
adults. Consolation matches are intended for first match losers.
